Overview:

This course is designed to train staff to improve domestic abuse awareness, understanding the signs of domestic abuse and coercive controlling behaviours.

Aim:

The overall aim of this awareness session is to improve domestic abuse awareness:

  • Training staff to be comfortable and confident in having conversations about domestic abuse with clients, to build safety and knowledge.
  • Improving access to appropriate domestic abuse support for victims of domestic abuse.

Outcomes:

  • Trained staff will be more efficient in supporting people who have experienced Domestic Abuse.
  • Improve referrals into domestic abuse services and related support such as SARC.
  • Improved use of the DASH risk assessment from staff at regular intervals in a victim's journey.
  • Improved self-awareness and resilience in domestic abuse victims being supported.
  • Improved identification of domestic abuse amongst adults and children.
  • Access to an online Bi-monthly Domestic Abuse Forum facilitated by BCHA.

Target Audience: This is targeted at front-facing staff - team managers, social workers, family support practitioners. This is a mandatory workshop for children's services front facing staff.
